Things Are Not Always What They Seem

Driving up to the striking red gates at Mount Baker Farm with hayfields stretch out in the distance, it’s difficult to imagine all the property has to offer.

One of the first encounters you will have while entering the grounds is our train track running horizontally across the property. During the summer season, campers are invited to ride the Farm’s 16-person trolley around the property.

Passengers board at the Elsinore train station, a replica of the actual Lake Elsinore train station built in 1897 in California. The ride takes guests along a 1.2 mile full-gauge railway track making a stop at Grizzly Flats – a covered train station decked out with vintage signage, antique phones, a meadow and a stand allowing visitors to enjoy a game of Spill the Milk.

With 58 walk-in campsites, 7 vehicle sites, and a 2,500 sq ft vacation rental, one might think visitors would feel crowded. But on 80-acres the property has ample room for adults and children to roam freely in the quiet of the woods and meadows, take part in a lively round of disc golf on the Farm’s 9-hole professional course, or spend time with the animals at the petting farm.

Mount Baker Farm is home to many other buildings with big architectural charm. The barn, with high arcing ceilings, also holds an indoor basketball court (and hay during haying season). There is also a shooting range and a mysterious building that holds both a grain silo, and an area equipped with hydraulics and a roof that may have opened at one time…
